Plates issued since 2001 have seven characters shown as three and four, with no punctuation: a serial digit, the letter of the region (A Praha, S Středočeský, C Jihočeský, P Plzeňský, K Karlovarský, U Ústecký, L Liberecký, H Královéhradecký, E Pardubický, J Vysočina, B Jihomoravský, M Olomoucký, T Moravskoslezský, Z Zlínský), a digit or letter, and four digits, as in 1A2 3456. When the numbers of a region run out a letter replaces the next digit: Prague moved to 1AA A000 in 2023. Decree 343/2014 allows only the letters A-F, H-N, P, R-V and X-Z after the region code. Plates of electric vehicles have EL and five letters or digits. Personalised plates (up to eight characters), historic (V), sport (R), diplomatic and older district-based plates (before 2001) follow other rules and are not covered. Since 2015 a plate stays with the vehicle when it moves to another region.",
