# Authoritative Legal Entity Identifier (ALEI, IBRN) (`alei`)

Globally unique identifier of a legal entity defined by ISO 8000-116. It combines a prefix for the jurisdiction and the register that created the entity with the local registration number from that register, for example US-DE.BER:3031657. Unlike proxy identifiers such as the LEI or the DUNS number, it is issued by the authority that registers the entity. The International Business Registration Number (IBRN) is the name used for ALEIs in trade.
