# Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) (`asin`)

> **Draft.** Draft records have not been reviewed yet and may be incomplete or wrong; do not treat them as authoritative for legal or compliance decisions.

Ten-character code of uppercase letters and digits that Amazon and its partners assign to a product in the Amazon catalog. For a book with a 10-digit ISBN, the ASIN is that ISBN. Other products, including most Kindle editions, get a code assigned by Amazon.
