# Belgian social security identification number (INSZ/NISS) (`be_insz`)

Identificatienummer van de sociale zekerheid (INSZ), numéro d'identification de la sécurité sociale (NISS) or Erkennungsnummer der sozialen Sicherheit (ENSS): the key that identifies a person in data exchanged within Belgian social security, for example in employer declarations and health insurance. It is the national register number (benatcardid) of a person in the National Register, otherwise the BIS number (be_bis) assigned by the Crossroads Bank for Social Security. Both have 11 digits: date of birth as YYMMDD (month plus 20 or 40 in a BIS number), a serial number and two check digits modulo 97.
