# Civility (common title) (`civility`)

> **Draft.** Draft records have not been reviewed yet and may be incomplete or wrong; do not treat them as authoritative for legal or compliance decisions.

Everyday courtesy title written before a person's name, such as Mr, Mrs, Ms, Miss or Mx in English, M. or Mme in French and Herr or Frau in German. Most of these titles show the person's gender and some show marital status, so a civility column is personal data.
