# Czech VAT number (DIČ) (`cz_dic`)

Daňové identifikační číslo (DIČ), the Czech tax identification number, also used as the VAT (DPH) number. It is CZ followed by a base part: for a legal entity its 8-digit IČO, for an individual the 9- or 10-digit birth number (rodné číslo), or a number that the tax administrator assigns instead (vlastní identifikátor, VČP), for example to people without a birth number. Since 1 January 2021 an individual can ask for such a number so that the DIČ no longer contains the birth number. python-stdnum validates assigned numbers of 9 digits that start with 6 with their own check digit. The CZ prefix is often omitted or followed by a space.
