# UN/EDIFACT message type (`edifact_message_type`)

Six-letter code that names a standard message of UN/EDIFACT, the United Nations rules for electronic data interchange in trade, transport and administration, for example ORDERS for a purchase order or INVOIC for an invoice. The code is written in the message header (UNH segment) together with the directory version. UN/CEFACT publishes the message types in each release of the UN/EDIFACT directories.
