# Opendatasoft geographic point (geo_point_2d) (`geo_point_2d`)

Geographic point stored in the geo_point_2d field type of the Opendatasoft data platform (now Huwise), which runs many French and other European open data portals. Datasets often keep the default field name geo_point_2d, usually next to a geo_shape field with the full geometry of the record. The point is a latitude and a longitude in decimal degrees. The Explore API v2.1 returns it as a JSON object with lon and lat members. CSV exports write the latitude, a comma and a space, then the longitude, and the legacy Records API v1 returns a [latitude, longitude] array. This latitude-first order is the opposite of GeoJSON.
