# GeoJSON geometry type (`geojson_geometry_type`)

Value of the type member of a GeoJSON geometry object. RFC 7946 defines seven case-sensitive geometry types - Point, MultiPoint, LineString, MultiLineString, Polygon, MultiPolygon and GeometryCollection. Tabular datasets often keep it in a column next to the coordinates, for example geoData.type in the datasets of the Moscow open data portal.
