# Norwegian national identity number (fødselsnummer) (`no_fodselsnummer`)

Fødselsnummer, the 11-digit national identity number in Norway, kept in the National Population Register by the Norwegian Tax Administration: the date of birth (DDMMYY), a 3-digit individual number that also gives the sex, and two mod-11 check digits. A D-number, given to people who are not registered as residents, has the same layout with 4 added to the first digit.
