# Persistent Uniform Resource Locator (PURL) (`purl`)

URL on a PURL resolver that redirects to the current location of a resource, so that the published address keeps working when the resource moves. The original resolver at purl.org, now run by the Internet Archive, also answers at purl.net, purl.com and purl.info. Other resolvers use host names that start with purl, such as purl.fdlp.gov. Dublin Core publishes its term URIs as PURLs.
