# Dutch legal entity information number (RSIN) (`rsin`)

Rechtspersonen en Samenwerkingsverbanden Informatienummer (RSIN), the nine-digit number that a legal entity or partnership gets automatically when it registers with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KVK), next to its KVK number. It is the counterpart of the citizen service number (bsn) for organisations; sole proprietorships (eenmanszaken) get none and use the owner's BSN. Before 2010 the tax service called it the Fi-nummer. The tax service builds the older VAT number (omzetbelastingnummer) and the payroll tax number from it. A company with an RSIN that files its own customs declarations composes its EORI number as NL followed by the RSIN (nl_eori). python-stdnum checks the RSIN part of a btw-nummer with the BSN 11-proef, but no official source publishes a check digit for the RSIN.
