# SIP URI (`sip_uri`)

Address of a user, a phone or a service in the Session Initiation Protocol (RFC 3261), used for voice over IP, video calls and instant messaging. It has the form sip:user@host or, for secure transport, sips:user@host; the user part may be a phone number, and parameters and headers may follow the host.
