# Sequence Read Archive accession (SRA, ENA, DDBJ) (`sra_accession`)

> **Draft.** Draft records have not been reviewed yet and may be incomplete or wrong; do not treat them as authoritative for legal or compliance decisions.

Accession of an object in the sequence read archives of NCBI (SRA), EMBL-EBI (ENA) and DDBJ, which store raw data from high-throughput sequencing. The first letter is S, E or D after the archive that issued it, the second is R, and the third gives the kind of object, for example X for an experiment, R for a run and S for a sample. Digits follow. Studies and samples also have BioProject and BioSample accessions, which are separate datatypes.

## Detection

Regular expression (Python `re`):

```
^[SED]R[APRSXZ]\d+$
```

## Examples

- `SRX000007` — 454 sequencing of a paired-end library of HapMap individual NA18505 (experiment); Bioregistry example
- `SRR000001` — A sequencing run of that experiment
- `ERS368772` — ENA sample accession of BioSample SAMEA2397676
- `SAMEA2397676` (invalid example) — BioSample accession, not a read archive accession
