Each code has eight digits. It is written as a QCode with the scheme alias medtop (medtop:15000000 is sport) or as a URI under http://cv.iptc.org/newscodes/mediatopic/. Top-level codes coincide with the older IPTC Subject Codes (alias subj). A bare eight-digit code is not accepted by the regexp, because it looks like a date or a Subject Code. Wikidata property P5429 holds all NewsCodes in the form mediatopic/15000000.",
