# Australian NLIS device number (NLIS ID) (`au_nlis_id`)

Sixteen-character number printed on an ear tag or other device of the Australian National Livestock Identification System (NLIS). Characters 1-8 are the PIC of the property the device was issued to (au_pic), 9 the manufacturer code, 10 the device type, 11 the year of manufacture (without I and O) and 12-16 a serial number whose first character is a digit or a letter other than I and O and the rest digits.
