# Author name (byline) (`author_name`)

> **Draft.** Draft records have not been reviewed yet and may be incomplete or wrong; do not treat them as authoritative for legal or compliance decisions.

Name of the author or authors of a text as written in a byline, a citation or a catalogue record. One value often lists several names separated by commas, semicolons or "and", and names may be inverted (Austen, Jane) or abbreviated (J. Austen). The author can be an organization. Field names are author, authors, byline, creator and author_name. Wikidata keeps such names in property P2093 when the author has no item; for a single person's name see person_fullname.
