# Basic bank account number (BBAN) (`bban`)

> **Draft.** Draft records have not been reviewed yet and may be incomplete or wrong; do not treat them as authoritative for legal or compliance decisions.

National bank account number that forms the domestic part of an IBAN - the characters after the country code and the two IBAN check digits (ISO 13616). Its length and structure are set per country, from 11 to 29 letters and digits; it usually holds a bank or branch code and the account number, and some countries add national check digits. A BBAN is only validated against its country's structure, so the regexp here checks the length and characters only.
