# Bangladeshi national identity card number (NID) (`bd_nid`)

Number of the national identity card issued by the Bangladesh Election Commission. Cards issued from 2008 carry 13-digit numbers, and later registrations received 17-digit numbers; a 13-digit number can be turned into the 17-digit form by putting the four-digit year of birth in front of it. Smart cards carry a 10-digit number of nine random digits and a check digit, whose algorithm is not published.
