# CITES appendix (`cites_appendix`)

> **Draft.** Draft records have not been reviewed yet and may be incomplete or wrong; do not treat them as authoritative for legal or compliance decisions.

Appendix of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in which a species or population is listed, written as a Roman numeral: I for species threatened with extinction, where commercial trade in wild specimens is not allowed; II for species whose trade must be controlled; III for species that a Party protects and asks other Parties to help control. Species+ summarizes split listings with slashes (I/II) and writes NC for taxa or parts that are not listed; this pattern accepts a single appendix only.
