# Euroclear and Clearstream common code (`common_code`)

Nine-digit number that the international central securities depositories Euroclear Bank and Clearstream Banking assign jointly to the securities they settle. ISINs with the prefix XS are built from it - XS, the common code and the ISIN check digit. Leading zeros are often dropped, so a column may hold seven or eight digits.
