# Environment Ontology (ENVO) term ID (`envo_id`)

> **Draft.** Draft records have not been reviewed yet and may be incomplete or wrong; do not treat them as authoritative for legal or compliance decisions.

Identifier of a term in the Environment Ontology (ENVO), an OBO Foundry ontology of biomes, environmental features and materials. The local id has seven or eight digits; data usually write it as the CURIE ENVO:00000428, the IRI ends in ENVO_00000428, and Wikidata and Bioregistry store the bare digits. This pattern accepts all three forms.

- Personal data (PII): no
- Categories: Environment (protected areas, biodiversity, water, weather, emissions, waste) (environment), Scientific (science)
- Countries: global
- Languages: Common to most languages (common)
- Classification: identifier

## Detection

- `ENVO_01000803` — asteroid; Wikidata example, written as the IRI local name
- `ENVO:2000020` — electric energy, a seven-digit id; Ontology Lookup Service
- `ENVO:275` (invalid example) — Local id without its leading zeros
