Identification code that ear tags, boluses and other means of identification carry for kept cattle, sheep, goats, camelids and deer in the European Union, under Article 12 of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/520. It is the country code of the Member State where the animal was first identified, as ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 letters (EL for Greece) or three ISO numeric digits, followed by an individual code of at most 12 digits. Electronic identifiers use the numeric country code. Tags often print the digits in groups.
