Six-digit code of a waste type in the European List of Waste (Commission Decision 2000/532/EC, as amended by Decision 2014/955/EU and, for battery waste, Delegated Decision (EU) 2025/934). The first pair is one of 20 chapters by the source or kind of waste, the second pair a subchapter and the third the entry; entries ending in 99 are wastes not otherwise specified. An asterisk after the code marks a hazardous waste. Codes are written in pairs separated by spaces (20 03 01) or as six digits (200301); a bare six-digit number needs column context.
