# French establishment number (NIC) (`fr_nic`)

Numéro interne de classement (NIC), the last 5 digits of a SIRET number. It tells apart the establishments of one legal unit identified by its SIREN and carries no information about activity or location. Its last digit is a check digit for the whole SIRET, so the NIC alone cannot be validated. Sirene files keep it in its own column, for example nicSiegeUniteLegale for the head office.
