Identifier of a weather station in the Global Historical Climatology Network daily dataset of NOAA NCEI, 11 characters long. The first two characters are the FIPS 10-4 country code (not ISO 3166, so GM is Germany and RS is Russia), the third is the code of the source numbering system (for example W for WBAN, M for WMO, C for US Cooperative, 1 for CoCoRaHS, N for national networks) and the last eight hold the station number of that system, padded with zeros. The same identifiers are used in GHCN-Monthly version 4.
