Registration mark of a vehicle in India, issued by the regional transport offices of the states and union territories under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. The usual mark has a two-letter state code, a one- or two-digit RTO number, up to three series letters (never I or O) and a four-digit number with leading zeros, such as TN 60 AG 3333. Bharat series marks for vehicles that move between states have the two-digit year of registration, BH, four digits and one or two letters. Parts are separated by spaces or hyphens or not at all. The regexp does not check the list of state codes.
