Code stored in a passive low-frequency transponder of an animal (ear tag, bolus or microchip) under ISO 11784 and ISO 11785, usually shown as 15 digits. The first three digits are an ISO 3166 numeric country code, used only with the national authority's permission, or an ICAR manufacturer code (900 shared, 901 to 998 assigned to one manufacturer each, 999 for test transponders). The last twelve digits hold a 38-bit number, so they never exceed 274877906943.
