Code of ATECO, the Italian classification of economic activities kept by ISTAT and used by the business register and the tax agency. Sections are capital letters; divisions, groups, classes, categories and subcategories have two to six digits, written with dots, as in 46.11.01. The first four digits follow NACE (eu_nace); the fifth and sixth are Italian, and a code that ends in 0 has the same content as the level above it. ATECO 2025, the Italian version of NACE Rev. 2.1 with 22 sections from A to V, came into force on 1 January 2025 and has been operational since 1 April 2025; codes of ATECO 2007 stay in older data.
