# Italian public investment project code (CUP) (`it_cup`)

Codice unico di progetto (CUP), the 15-character code of a public investment project in Italy. The CUP system of the Department for planning and coordination of economic policy (DIPE) of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers generates it when the funding of a project is decided. It stays with the project until it ends and is quoted on its administrative and accounting documents, payments and electronic invoices. The published examples, such as C11G06000000001 on Italian Wikipedia, have a letter, two digits, a letter and eleven digits, and the regexp follows that form.
