# Medication strength (dosage) (`medication_strength`)

Amount of active substance in one unit of a medicine (a tablet, a dose) or per unit of its volume or mass, such as 500 mg, 10 mg/ml or 2.5 ml per dose. A combination product gives one amount per substance, joined with a plus sign, as in 50 мг+25 мг. Units are mass (mg, mcg, g), volume (ml), international or other biological units (IU, U, ЕД, МЕ, ИР, АЕ, PNU), radioactivity (МБк, ГБк), colony-forming units (КОЕ), amount of substance (mmol) or a percentage, sometimes with a thousand or million multiplier (1 млн.МЕ). The Russian ESKLP catalogue also writes an amount per volume or area with a vertical bar, as in 250 мг|5 мл, and writes a missing value as ~ or НЕ УКАЗАНО. The regexp matches 97% of the values of std_dosage and 92% of norm_dosage in an ESKLP export (placeholders left out). It does not match lists of several strengths (10 мг, 20 мг, 30 мг) or units with a qualifier (мг йода/мл). A plain mass or percentage also matches, so a column name is needed to tell a strength from other quantities.
