# Organization acronym (`org_acronym`)

Short form of an organization name built from its initial letters or syllables, such as CERN or RMIT. Registries of organizations keep it next to the full name; ROR stores it as a name of type acronym (schema v2) or in the acronyms list (schema v1). Acronyms are usually two to eight capital letters, but they can contain digits, lowercase letters and spaces and are often in the local script, so the record has no regexp and is recognized by the field name (acronym, abbreviation).
