Five-digit number of a food in the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference (SR, now SR Legacy in FoodData Central), such as 09003 for raw apples. Files that store it as a number lose the leading zero, so four-digit values occur. FoodData Central gives each SR Legacy food its own FDC ID (usda_fdc_id) and keeps the NDB number as an attribute.
