Pharmazentralnummer (PZN), the number that the Informationsstelle für Arzneispezialitäten (IFA) assigns to each pack of a medicine, medical device or other pharmacy product sold in Germany; a different pack size gets a different number. Since 2013 it has eight digits: seven digits and a check digit, the sum of the first seven weighted 1 to 7 modulo 11 (a result of 10 is never issued). The seven-digit numbers issued before were kept with a leading 0. Packs show it as PZN-12345678 next to a Code 39 barcode.
