Kazakh KATO code

ID kz_kato

DatatypeNot PIIidentifier

Nine-digit code of an administrative-territorial object or settlement of Kazakhstan in the national Classifier of administrative-territorial objects (KATO, НК РК 11), kept by the Bureau of National Statistics. The code is hierarchical: AB is the region or city of republican significance (10 to 70 for regions, above 70 for cities such as Astana 71 and Almaty 75), CD a district or a city of regional significance, EF an object of district level such as a rural district or a town, and HIJ a village or another small settlement. The first two, four or six digits alone may stand for the higher levels; zeros fill the rest of a full code. The classifier also has a separate one-digit attribute K for the type of locality, which is not part of the nine-digit code. The current edition НК РК 11-2025 took effect on 1 February 2025.
