ID opscode

DatatypeNot PIIcategorical

Code of a medical procedure in the OPS, the German procedure classification that the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) publishes every year and that hospitals use for DRG billing. A code has up to six characters, written as a chapter digit (1, 3, 5, 6, 8 or 9), a hyphen, three characters and, after a dot, up to two more, as in 5-314.11. The first three characters are digits; the others can also be lowercase letters, with x for other and y for unspecified procedures. Data files sometimes leave out the hyphen and the dot.
