Number from 1 to 3999 written in Roman numerals, with the letters I, V, X, L, C, D and M in the standard subtractive form, where IV is 4 and CM is 900. Roman numerals number volumes, chapters, monarchs and recurring events, and some copyright notices and inscriptions give years in them. The regexp accepts uppercase standard forms only, not additive variants such as IIII or numbers above 3999.
