ULID (Universally Unique Lexicographically Sortable Identifier)

ID ulid

DatatypeNot PIIidentifier

128-bit identifier from the ULID specification. The first 48 bits are the Unix time in milliseconds and the other 80 bits are random, so values sort by creation time. The canonical form is 26 characters of Crockford's Base32 (digits and uppercase letters without I, L, O and U), 10 for the time and 16 for the randomness. The first character is 0 to 7, because 26 characters hold 130 bits and the largest ULID is 7ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. The specification calls ULIDs case-insensitive; the regexp accepts the canonical uppercase form. A ULID has the same size as a UUID and is often stored in a UUID column.
