Belgian national register number (Rijksregisternummer)
ID benatcardid
Rijksregisternummer (numéro de registre national, Nationalregisternummer), the 11-digit number of a person in the Belgian National Register, often called the national number. It is printed on the identity card, but it is not the card number (be_eid). The first six digits are the date of birth as YYMMDD, the next three a serial number of the people born that day, odd for men (001 to 997) and even for women (002 to 998), and the last two a check number: 97 minus the remainder of the first nine digits divided by 97. For people born from 2000 a 2 is put before the nine digits for that calculation. When only the year, or the year and month, of birth is known the unknown parts are 00, and when the serial numbers of such a date run out the day becomes 01, 02 and so on; a fully unknown date is written as 000001. It is usually written as 85.07.30-033.28. Together with the BIS number it forms the social security identification number (be_insz).
