Wirtschafts-Identifikationsnummer (W-IdNr., § 139c AO), the permanent number of a business, legal entity or self-employed person for German tax and administrative purposes. The Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt) has issued it in stages since November 2024. It is DE, nine digits built like the VAT number (USt-IdNr.) and a five-digit suffix (Unterscheidungsmerkmal) for each economic activity: -00001 for the first, -00002 for the second and so on. A business that already had a USt-IdNr. keeps those nine digits.
