24-bit number that the IEEE Registration Authority assigns to a vendor or other organization (MA-L assignment). It forms the first three octets of MAC addresses and other EUI-48 and EUI-64 identifiers made by that organization, and is also used in World Wide Names and SNAP protocol identifiers. It is written as three hexadecimal octets, separated by hyphens or colons or not at all.
