Tableau is a business intelligence and visual analytics platform. In Tableau Desktop a field can be given a geographic role, such as Airport, City, Country/Region or ZIP Code/Postcode, so that Tableau geocodes its values and can plot them on a map. Tableau Prep uses the same geographic roles, together with Email and URL, as data roles that validate field values and mark the ones that do not match. The roles are listed in the Tableau Desktop help on geographic roles and the Tableau Prep help on data roles.
